Straight answers to what people ask before they start: whether StroopTaal is enough to pass Inburgering, how it differs from Duolingo, which languages you can learn from, how much time a day it takes, and what stays free.
How to reach us
- In the app: go to Settings > Support > Contact support, or tap Contact support at the bottom of the Profile tab. Our reply appears in the app and comes by email too. On iPhone and iPad you can attach up to three screenshots.
- On this page: the form above works without the app and without an account.
- By email: write to [email protected].
A person reads every message and writes the reply. If you fill in the form with the email address of your StroopTaal account, the reply also shows up in the app.
What to put in your message
- The email address of your account. If you sign in with Apple and hide your email, your account uses an address Apple made for you, which ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com.
- Your phone or tablet, its iOS or Android version, and the app version. The app version is in small print at the very bottom of the Profile tab and starts with a v.
- What you did, what you expected and what happened instead.
- For a mistake in a lesson question, tap the flag on that question instead. Your report then reaches us together with the question itself.
Common problems and what to try first
The app does not hear me when I speak
Check that StroopTaal may use the microphone. On iPhone and iPad, open the Settings app, tap StroopTaal and turn on Microphone; answering lesson questions by voice also needs Speech Recognition. On Android, the switch is usually under Settings > Apps > StroopTaal > Permissions > Microphone. Then end any call and close any other app that may be using the microphone, and try again somewhere quieter, with the phone close to you.
The sign-in code does not arrive
Look in your spam or junk folder, and check the email address for a typo. A code is valid for 30 minutes. If none has come, tap Resend Code once the countdown on that screen has run out; a new code can be sent once a minute. After five wrong tries a code stops working, so ask for a new one.
My progress is missing on another phone
Sign in the same way as on your first phone, with the same Apple or Google account or the same email address: your progress is saved to that account. Sign in with Apple is only on iPhone and iPad, so on Android use Google or the email code with the same address. If you hid your email when you signed in with Apple, your account has the address Apple made for you, and signing in with your real address opens a separate, empty account. Write to us if you are not sure which account holds your progress.
The daily reminder does not arrive
In the app, go to Settings > Notifications, turn on Daily Reminder and check the time under Reminder Time. Then make sure your phone lets StroopTaal send notifications: on iPhone and iPad in the Settings app under Notifications > StroopTaal, on Android in the system settings. When notifications are off on Android, the app's Settings show a button that takes you there. Focus modes, Do Not Disturb and battery saving can also hold a reminder back.
Lessons or conversations do not load
StroopTaal needs an internet connection for lessons, conversations and exam practice, so check your Wi-Fi or mobile data first. Then update the app from the App Store or Google Play, and close and reopen it. If it still does not load, write to us with your app version and what you see on the screen.
Account and subscription
I paid, but the app does not show Premium. What now?
Go to Settings > Subscription and tap Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple or Google account you paid with. If Premium still does not show, contact us through support.
How do I cancel Premium?
The App Store or Google Play manages your subscription, so you cancel it there; Settings > Manage Subscription in the app takes you to the right place. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for, and your progress stays. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, which took the payment: ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or Google through your order history in Google Play. We cannot refund a store purchase ourselves. If a refund is granted, Premium ends.
Can I use StroopTaal on more than one device?
Yes. Sign in with the same account and your progress comes with you. Your subscription belongs to the store you bought it in: on another device of the same kind, sign in to that Apple or Google account and use Restore Purchases.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings > Danger Zone > Delete My Account and confirm. Your account and its data are erased for good after 7 days; signing in again before then cancels the deletion. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel that in your store first.
